Chapter 415 Goblin Ambush
Keng shot up from his sleeping spot. Heavy breaths grew from him as he looked around. The nightmare had spiked him with adrenaline and he immediately reached to pat his chest. He looked down pulling his shirt down to check if he had a hole in his chest.
\'Thank god.\' Keng thought as he moved his legs closer into him. It was barely dawn. His fire had long gone yet he was sweaty. \'Just a nightmare. Just a nightmare. It isn\'t true. It won\'t come true.\' He had known the nightmares would come, but he didn\'t think it would happen so soon.
"It\'ll be fine. It\'ll be fine. Let\'s just… grab some water and meditate before we decide to head off… It\'ll be fine, Keng." Keng told himself. He forced himself to stand up and take a second to allow his adrenaline to leave him. Keng grabbed his things and threw them into the sack. He tied the sack and strapped all of his stuff onto his back and headed off to where he assumed the water was.
He walked for awhile until he actually found water. He set his stuff down and pulled his flask out. He sat next to the stream of water and dunked the flask in it. After he finished filling it, he capped it and set it off to the side and splashed water onto his face.
\'Water, check. Time to figure out where the Tomb is.\' Keng told himself. He needed to follow a list and stick to it. The last thing he really needed is to give into the feelings of anxiety and fear. Keng splashed himself with water a couple of times and wiped his face. He pulled out his map and tied his things together and strapped the sack onto his back.
Keng unrolled the map and looked at it.
\'Still not on the map. I guess we have a long way to go… Should I go that way?\' Keng looked past the stream. \'Or should I go the opposite direction?\' He shrugged and jumped over the stream.
"We\'ll go this way. Better to choose one way than the other." Keng shrugged. Keng walked for hours. The twin suns were almost at their highest when he finally noticed he was on the map. "I appeared from the right side. So I have to go this way." He dragged is finger through the way he wanted to go like he was taught and the path lit up. "Alright, let\'s go."
The path lit up in front of him, guiding him the way he needed to go. The map\'s magical effect gave him the ability to mark his path and light the way for him while he had the map in his hands. Keng followed it for the next couple hours and eventually knew where he was. He shook the map and the magical path effect died.
"We\'re almost back!" Keng shouted. He began to run, at full speed, towards the Tomb. His excitement made him almost not sense it.
\'Displacement.\' Keng thought. A cone of flames shot out from the right side of the forest. \'Displacement.\' Keng was sucked back to his original spot and watched as the flames devoured the area in front of him where he was. Goblins screams lit the air.
"Get him!" A goblin shouted in Goblin.
"Ugh, of course its goblins!" Keng pulled his daggers out and smiled. "I\'ve needed something to take the edge off. I guess you\'ll do." The goblins rushed at him as arrows whizzed past. Keng moved his tails to block the arrows, hardening his tail to not let any through as goblins flew at him from the sides. Keng swung himself in the opposite direction of his extended tails and slammed the goblins with his hardened tails.
The goblins went flying, skittering on the floor with a loud thud as Keng\'s tails pulled back to normal.
\'Displacement.\' Keng marked his spot and dashed forward towards the back line. His eyes lit up with Energy Sight, spotting the mage out like a sore thumb. Keng slashed through the protective layer of goblins and flew straight into the face of the Goblin mage. The mage cackled as flames flew out of its staff.
"God Weapon Art: Waves of Mercy." A barrier of water flew up around him, turning to steam around him and the goblin mage as he embedded a dagger into its heart. The energy fizzled out as goblins began to screech. Arrows fired as Keng felt an arrow embed itself into him. "Displacement."
Keng pulled back to where he was. The goblins he had knocked down with his tail were ten or so feet away from him. They rushed into the steam cloud as a dagger appeared in his hand.
"Fox Fire barrage." A barrage of fox fires appeared around him, firing out. Silver flames engulfed the goblins, releasing their screams as Keng watched the steam cloud dissipated. The goblin archers screeched as they fired another attack. The arrows began to multiply, the sky growing dark with arrows. Keng wrapped himself with his tails, hardening them as the sounds of arrows connected.
They pinged and embedded themselves all around him and Keng shielded himself. He couldn\'t see what the goblins were doing and it would make his next plan of action harder.
\'Listen closely. Ignore the pings of the arrows. Listen for the goblins. Where are they?\' Keng shut his eyes and listened. The arrows faded out and the sounds of goblin grunts and shouts came to the forefront. \'Archers are moving to the sides. There\'s two Fighters in front of me. Should I worry about the one behind me? I think that one has the most energy after the mage…\' He tilted his head as he tried to conjure a plan. He would be a sitting duck. The waiting game would happen and if the goblins were smart enough, they could use it to their advantage.
\'What are the chances I could blind them?\' Keng wondered. \'Blind them and send out fox fires to all sides? It\'ll give me enough room to try to dodge the arrows and slip past the Fighters in front of me. I\'ll have to avoid the one behind me until then.\' Keng\'s hand lit up as fox fires began to appear all around him.
\'Let\'s go.\' Keng pulled his tails back into place as he shot a beam of light out from him. Fox fires flew in every direction as screams of goblins gave Keng the okay to run. Keng dashed towards the Fighters who were clutching their eyes and slashed them, making a run for it. Another set of footsteps ran after him.
"I\'ll kill you before you even run away! Die Fox!" The goblin behind him cursed at him in Goblin. Keng made distance, Fox Fires firing off behind him in three different directions as he turned. A tail flew up and blocked the nimble Goblin\'s attack, pushing him away.
"GRAAH! (DIE!)" The archers shouted as they fired shots at Keng.
"Seriously…" Keng spun the daggers in his hands. "I can literally understand everything you\'re saying… God Weapon Art: Sphere of Hydran." Orbs of waters quickly formed a wall in front of Keng. The arrows plunging themselves in the water and completely losing their speed in an instant.
"Let\'s try a new one shall we? Energy Siphon. Displacement." A silver mark appeared where Keng stood as he disappeared. A rumble grew from his spot as he appeared in front of the goblin archers to his right. Keng slashed at the left most goblin and swung a kick at the other, plunging his tail into its chest.
"Fire, you idiots! Get him!" The nimble goblin shouted. The two archers on the left side panicked and began to fire at him. Keng waved at the slashed goblin and flashed back to his Displacement spot. The goblin screeched as arrows pierced into him. An arrow flew straight into his head immediately killing him as the archers panicked.
"You useless numb skulls! Do I have to do everything myself?!?" The nimble goblin shouted. The nimble goblin sprinted straight for Keng as he disappeared from his spot and appeared behind the goblin archers. He plunged Hydrosphere into the heads of the goblins and pulled the daggers out.
"Goblins think they\'re tough when they\'re in numbers. Don\'t remember that they\'re literally the easiest thing to kill around here." Keng mumbled.
"DIE!" The nimble goblin shouted. The goblin sailed through the sky and swung his short sword straight for Keng.
"Displacement Mark." Keng whispered. A silver mark appeared in his spot as he threw a dagger at the goblin.
"Ha, you think that\'ll work!" The goblin swung at the blade, knocking it to the side. "DIE!"
"Displacement." Keng flashed out of the way as the goblin slashed the air, sliding past.
"Enhance 2!" The goblin shouted. It\'s body glowed a bright red color as Keng raised his hand and the dagger appeared in his hand, again. The nimble goblin\'s energy was quickly changing. What little energy Keng read off of him was now growing.
\'This one\'s different… What\'s happening?\' Keng wondered. The nimble goblin chuckled as its body began to bulge.
"You\'re dead meat, Fox!" The Goblin spoke in English. "I\'m going to carve you to pieces!" It\'s body began to flash. Pure energy began to grow around the nimble goblin.
\'Shit. Is it… Evolving?!?\'
